Some of our Article 12 ambassadors were very lucky to be invited to the Redbridge Council Chambers at Ilford Town Hall today. They got to attend the External Scrutiny Panel in session at an earlier than usual time to accommodate the children from Redbridge schools in attendance.
The Article 12 ambassadors outside Ilford Town Hall
During the session, the students were able to hear what the council were hoping to achieve with Hainault Forest, should their funding bid be successful over the coming months. They heard about the great work being done at the Redbridge Drama Centre as well as the Music Centre and how they are working closely on exciting collaborations for the benefit of local residents.
The children were given the opportunity to address the councillors and had some interesting questions on knife crime, the local environment, as well as the effects of social media on Redbridge youth. Further questions were welcomed by the councillors and we hope to submit some in the future through the connections we made today.

The ambassadors enjoyed getting to see where local democracy takes place, getting to meet some of their own representatives, see how votes are taken in the main chambers and meet with the Deputy Mayor of Redbridge.
